What type of guitar would you recommend for the genres of blues and soul music?

I want to learn to play the guitar but I don't know which kind to get. My genres of music are blues and soul. What kind of guitar would you recommend?

1. i've just started learning too. what i have is just a simple acoustic, its probably easier to start on that kind anyways
2. Well if you don't know how to play the guitar yet than I think you should um.. take a few lessons, but if you know how then get a Fender or if your not rich than buy like a Yamaha. A regular guitar is good don't buy an electric guitar:)
